Beatrice Mosionier, a Métis writer born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, is best known for her novel In Search of April Raintree (1983), a powerful story inspired by her own experiences growing up in foster care. The youngest of four children, Beatrice was taken from her family at the age of three and tragically lost both of her sisters to suicide. Her life experiences have deeply influenced her writing, which has resonated with generations of Canadians. In addition to April Raintree, she has authored multiple works, including a play, a short film, and the foreword for Overcome, a book by Anne Mahon. Beatrice is also the former publisher of Pemmican Publications and now resides in Enderby, British Columbia.
